Eco Wave Power is a Swedish company founded in 2011 in Tel Aviv, Israel, that has developed a patented, smart, and cost-efficient technology for converting ocean and sea waves into green electricity. The company owns and operates a wave energy array that is connected to the grid under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

Eco Wave Power has developed a cost-efficient, reliable, easy to build and operate technology for converting ocean and sea waves into green electricity with low maintenance costs and proximity to grid connection points. The technology is fully modular and scalable, with construction and production costs per KWh being highly competitive. The forecasted levelized cost for energy (LCOE) for commercial scale installation will be around EUR 42 per MWh (SEK 0.45/KWh). The company has several patents in place and additional applications, putting strong focus on wave energy development. The system is fully insurable and have no adverse environmental impact due to its connection to mostly existent man-made structures, already existing structures such as pier, jetties, and breakwaters are becoming a source of clean electricit

Cost efficient, reliable technology

Easy to build and operate, due to its’ accessible location on land. In addition, low costs of maintenance and connection to the grid, due to proximity to grid connection points.
Fully modular and scalable.
Cost-efficient – construction and production costs per KWh are highly competitive, and the forecasted levelized cost for energy (LCOE) for commercial scale installation will be around EUR 42 per MWh (SEK 0.45/KWh). The Company has several patents in place and additional applications pending, putting strong focus on IP development and protection.
Fully insurable – current damage protection coverage provided by global reputable insurance companies.

Technology

Eco Wave Power has developed a technology that uses floating devices, called floaters, to convert the motion of waves into a clean energy generation process. The floaters compress and decompress hydraulic pistons which transfer a bio-degradable hydraulic fluid into land-based accumulators to build pressure. This pressure rotates a hydraulic motor which then rotates a generator, transferring the electricity generated into the grid via an inverter. The fluid is then re-used by the pistons, creating a closed-circuit system. The system can begin producing electricity from waves as low as 0.5 meters and is controlled and monitored by a smart automation system. When waves are too high, the floaters will automatically rise above the water level to protect the system, returning to operation once the storm passes.
